I occasionally watch the TV shopping channels. There's an advert for drills that look like masonry drills, but they use them to cut through several materials, including a steel file. Always been a bit sceptical myself.

The very thing I was thinking of mentioning.

I don't know what the composition of these drills is (they never seem to mention this) but the demonstration is always impressive.

BTW, whilst I am here, I am another who always uses HSS bits for stainless.

And Im a Chinaman

Drills all materials including wood, metal, tile, steel, aluminium, glass, concrete and so much more. Change materials without changing the drill bit.
Grinds rather than cuts
Works fine at any speed and with or without hammer actiion, Stands temperature other drill bits can't stand
Our Drill all drill bits can withstand high temperatures, They have negative tip gives precision. Cobalt tipped - designed for maximum hardness and resistance to heat and wear.
Special negative rake grinding enables the tip to bore through all materials with a filing action rather than a cutting action. This enables you to drill through brick, steel, stone, marble and many more products. The heat generated will not affect the tip because the high tech bonding allows the bit to withstand high drilling temperatures.
Comes neatly packaged in a convenient metal carry case to keep your drill bits organised, tidy and portable! All drill bits are fitted with a hexagon shank that fits in to any standard chuck.

Any one in Plymouth who could check the supplier out and report back.

I am in Plymouth. Some gentle digging suggests the address is probably little more than a mailbox.

Of course this does not mean the product is itself no good.....

...we should respectfully ask Sailfree to get cracking with his set, to see how things stand :D
