When I was cruising in my 15 footer with vane gear many was the timeI was invited to dinner and on several occassions I had to refuse an invitation dueto prior dinner appointment,Most were couples ,it could be they expected tales of daring do or they were bored talking to each other……or just being nice?

If you don’t already have it the Navily app is quite good for giving anchorage information. If anchoring remember to have enough chain warp to deal with a 10 metre tidal range.
If you are a bilge keeler then take advantage of all the numerous harbours that fins can’t get into. If you have time go up some of the rivers, many are beautiful and again some are inaccessible to deeper draft boats. If you can drop your mast easily it adds more options.
In terms of pilotage guides, the French Shom almanac is a good investment as it contains charts for most areas in good detail.

Thanks everyone for the advice, resources and encouragement. Am waiting to hear what the decision is from the club. If they go, I shall go too. If not, I may go anyway, although if alone I may wait another year so as not to be under pressure to do all the work that I want to do on Swift at the same time. There are advantages to interspersing sailing and improvements as it gives more thinking time for each modification and time to learn how to get the most out of it.
