CNB Bordeaux 60 - in build (pics)

Launch is always an exciting time and a great milestone. Look forward to the phots.

Just had a long weekend in your neck of the woods - definately a strong spring, nearly ready for boating, feel to the weather!!!;)

This thread is great, fascinating to be invited along to watch through the build process, thank you for the Magnuminious gesture. ( Dont worry I was going out anyway).

Have you seen the thread reader count? I am sure there's the makings for a very readable magazine piece in there somewhere?

Best of luck with the launch and fair, fast winds to you, and thankyou.

Lucky boy Magnum, I am skipper on Bx60 hull N°19 launched last May, so you may want to ask me a couple of questions, to make short I am very pleased with the boat.

What a lovely post. Glad you appreciate the reports.

If you are in the South West between the middle of May and end of July, SWMBO and I would be happy to welcome you onboard for a look round and a glass or two :)

Well, thank you, I would be delighted to take a peek if practicable, you never know!

The boat at the S'ton show looked very sleek and beautifully in proportion, I shall keep a look out on my summer cruise for a distinctive mast !

Hi Magnum,
I have just been wasting far too much time reading this whole thread and drooling, wonderful boat and very interesting to see the build pics. Like others have said, many thanks for sharing with the forum.

Looking forward to the next update and launch pics

One thought on seeing the very sexy carbon rig, you have lights fitted to the spreaders to illuminate the mast yet the mast is black. I have seen this work really well with light-coloured masts but not with Black, how well do you think this will work against the night sky?

Cheers

Thanks for the kind comments :)

Regarding the LED spreader lights I think we'll just have to wait and see. If nothing else they will be visible to aircraft :D

Quick update.

She's actually being launched on 24th now with the mast being stepped on 29th. Sails will be fitted on 4th which is when I next intend to be there so I'll be able to post pics of her in a completed state. I'm getting quite excited now.

She's now registered as a vessel under construction in the Cayman Islands so I can show you her port of registry for the first time :D

Don't forget to place the traditional gold coin under mast for fair winds. :)
Don't do it - the galvanic action from dissimilar metals could cause problems - especially as I think your mast will be sitting on aluminium.

I've seen it on a black mast at night. It looks great.

Georgio, plenty of black-masted big yachts have spreader lights and they look fantastic. WallyB for example. They look different from white masts, but they still look fantastic

So glad you went for bloody bay this time magnum, and not george town (I know you couldn't have george town, becuae there is one already registered there, as you, er, know!) But what I mean is, even if you had the choice, bloody bay is more fun

Congratulations Magnum on a lovely looking and specced boat.

One of my best pals who I went to college with in the late 1980's (Yacht & Boatyard Management) project managed a 98 footer in France about 8 to 9 years ago. He skippered it for a while before buying a maintenance/cleaning business in Dartmouth. He enjoyed working with the french yards (moulding in Cherbourg and fit out near Toulon).

How long are you planning to keep it at the builders for trials/shake down?

I'm used to boats built with the decks already bonded to the hull prior to fit out so interesting to see the modular fit out.

She is being launched on 24th, mast stepped on 29th, nav kit and additional rigging being fitted from 13th April, delivery trip commences of 2nd May. I "get the keys" in Guernsey on 6th May, weather permitting :)

Just had some pictures from CNB and Magnum is out of the shed :D

There's still some finishing off to do but for the first time she looks almost complete. Launching is planned for the 24th with the mast being stepped on the 29th. I'm really happy with her appearance, especially the slightly darker than standard hull with subtly contrasting waterline stripes.

I'll be visiting the factory in 2 weeks so will have more photos then. In the meantime, the excitement is building :D

She looks absolutely stupendous even before she`s finished. She`ll certainly make an impression wherever she`s berthed.

Like the teak finishing going right up to the edges.

Lovely looking boat and like you say the subtle waterline strips are a nice touch.

Good luck with the launch!
