Closing uk marinas

You might think that but there will be idiots who think it's OK to go to their boat who will be filling up with petrol, perhaps buying something from the filling store shop, getting to the marina, using the trolleys, having a wee in the loos, using the taps, perhaps popping into the marina office for a chat, etc.

You are quite correct. Your description is more like the reality

People need to keep working.
People like Volvopaul should be allowed to carry on as they see fit.

I hope to carry on working also . Travelling for work is allowed .

It's not going to be a holiday .

Travelling to the boat should be allowed too. What harm does it do?

Touching handrails on ramps ? Or gate handles ? or power cable units ? Or taps ?

Absolutly...…… This is what you do.... I am afraid people don't think especially if it is somthing you want or like to do.

The simple truth is 99% of our boats are for recreation and there is no way that this remotely fits into the 'Necessary' bracket.

Very little harm, in many cases, if the advice is followed.

However, as mentioned above, if people pile the kids into a car and drive 100 miles, stopping for lunch and three toilet breaks it becomes a different matter.
There is a presenter on my radio right now saying that angling could not possibly be a risk but the travel argument is the same. As with golf, skateboarding, rambling, tennis and almost any other outdoor activity.

I think keeping economic activity going is vital, but sadly in the end, it may become easier just to put the block on everything. It does not help when the shallow thinkers amongst us imagine Government to be in possession of magic dust,

Very well said and very responsible

Bloody hell, the admiral just called on Messenger from out our main supermarket. Not a scrap of meat left on the shelves. Not one sausage for poor Bruce!! This is North Wales not bloody England!!

Blimmin diabolical. Any way I have bravely decreed over the phone, behind locked doors that if she brings me home hot dog sausages in a tin I'm going to eat her dog. That'll light a fire under her ass to panic buy in advance next time.

mmmmm plenty meat there. Lets hear it for staffies ? (y)

Just received an email from the marina where I keep my boat.
It says they will do everything possible and we are welcome to come to the boat over the coming months .
They have requested we minimise visits into the office which is a good plan and no big deal. Payments can be made over the phone.

We are river based . C&RT are determined to keep going too . So we might get some boating tome in even if its confined to the river which under the circumstances is a bonus.

My plan is to get the boat launched, then make short trips either up the harbour or across to a bay on the IOW and drop the hook with my own supplies.

Or just launch the tender in the harbour, deliberately run aground on a mudbank with a bottle of Malbec, and pretend to be a seal for a few hours.

In my case the boat is less than a mile from home.
Travelling to the boat does no harm in my case .

Yes it does...… You are putting Boating (which is an unnecessary pass time) above peoples lives. Why is it you don't think these things apply to you. It is attitudes like yours that will cause a draconian lock down. Just leave the boat where it is

And those activities are putting yourself at risk from other factors. If you get injured you will then put pressure on the NHS and emergency services. Do you think that is fair.
Ask yourself is there anything about boating that is necessary.

You got quite an irresponsible and selfish Marina there..............
You might like to think a little about that word Selfish

I guess anything is possible, but I haven't needed the NHS or emergency services during 31 years of being on the water, so that risk is very small.

You obviously have a strong opinion on this.
Are you going to lock yourself inside your house and not go out for as longs as it takes , which could be anything between two years and two months?
We do all need to think of things to do in our leisure time for our own wellbeing . What are your intentions for activities other than work ?

Yup I have thought and come to the conclusion that Boating is not necessary at the present time.
Read a book. Look at a flower, Watch Netflix, do some gardening, read and try and help in some forums, Make a video from old stuff, clean the house, phone up friends etc etc.

Get you head away from thinking boating is necessary......…….. It aint

There are 2 parts to the equation it is not just risk...... It is risk and if something is necessary. Explain to me how boating is necessary at the moment.

Also many people have got heightened anxiety and mental health issues because of all this and people not complying and being selfish makes them worse and makes it all last longer and burdens the NHS.

Try and think beyond boating please it is just a leisure persuit, Is not important in the current climate and in no way is it necessary ever.
