My rope mooring rope is getting green and grot now.....someone said that you can stick them in the washing machine to clean them....seems a bit extreme. Anyone else tried this?

yes, put in to a pillow case and wash - dont add any fabric softener - cannot remember why - but i never do. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

need to put in a pillow case to stop the rope getting around the drum and costing you a new machine, and the wrath of SWMBO. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes. Use non bio washing powder, a low temperature and put them in something that will prevent them flailing around too much. Pillowcases are good - though not the expensive linen ones that SWMBO had bought a few weeks previously, if you get my drift... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Seconded washing machine and why no fabric conditioner? Mkaes mine nice and soft! Also pressure washer on the dockside, roll the warps around wioth yer, feet!

Dunno about fabric conditioner but I had heard that bio powders can weaken the strength of the warps, so conditioner may do the same. Though on mature reflection, that may be what we technical types call "cobblers".
