Child licensing - the right to procreate

Darwinianism used to take care of the survival of the fittest, by ensuring that less useful members of society ended up as Sabre Toothed Tiger lunch.

These days, intelligent professional couples are increasingly deciding not to have children, while whole housing estates are given over to very young single mothers who became pregnant to obtain a house, and the plebeians are breeding like rabbits.

One cursory glance at reality shows such as 'Wife Swap' show that the proletariat are driving down the average intelligence of the country, and have no idea how to raise children.

The world is over populated, and the last thing we need are huge numbers of dimwitted badly raised children.

So, my proposal is that procreation and the raising of children, is something that should not be undertaken by those without the intelligence and means to bring life into this world, and raise and nurture it carefully.

We should bring in testing for prospective parents, including written and practical tests on parenting, IQ testing, and means testing to show the prospective parents have jobs and the means to support not only themselves but a child as well, and make a commitment to raise the child in a socially constructive manner, so the child will become an educated and productive member of society.

Only prospective parents who pass all these tests will be given a licence to have a child.

Should we enforce surgical sterilisation on the rest? or simply pump contraceptives into the water supplies, and give antidotes to licenced parents?

Having lighted the blue touch paper, I will now await comments with interest!

(shame we don't have the new forum software with the ability to set up votes yet!)

Re: Unfortunately

Well, I hadn't written it at the time you were conceived, so I guess they can be let off the hook! <g>

I bet if you had sent that to the Guardian you would have had social services and the thought police on your doorstep by now!! It should rattle a few nerves.

PS It will also raise some grunts of sympathy.

Dear Mr. Hitler

How is the 3rd Reich doing at present?

As much as I agree with the synopsis regarding the falling IQ, as often reported in New Scientist, I can not and will never agree with licencing a fundamental human right, nay animal right as we are after all animals who breed.

What next, genocide! Oh, you already did that.

(I guess I must be a pleb then, oh well!)

So you think all adults have the right to breed, irrespective of the childrens rights, who are brought into this world at the hands of their parents - many of whom are incapable of bringing up children.

Don't the potential children have as many rights? Or do you just wait until the kids are having problems before social services become involved, and then try in futile hope they can repair some of the damage

No, I won't argue, I really won't.

You are absolutely correct and as with every post you make I agree with every word. You are a god amongst boating folk. And a prophet. Are you related to Moses? His dad perhaps? Or maybe Noahs uncle. Or maybe one of his asses.

Never thought of publishing it - it was primarily written as a source of wind up, but with enough truth to engender a response. The Sun?

But I thought under this nanny state, we are not expected to take( or is it allowed to take) any responsibility.
Didn't think social services got involved in that kind of case, only those where they though parents weren't being pc enough

Hey, the World is not a very nice place. In the wild some animals eat their young. In the human race, some adults it turns out don't make very good parents. That I will not argue. Nor will I argue that some adults should not breed, nor even look after children.

But you can not regulate a basic human right, it is not ethical and it never will be. It should also be understood that the world needs 'stupid people' otherwise we would have no telly init!

How about stopping disabilities by screening all potential breeders for hereditary disease, chances of heart problems, arthritis etc. Then we could all go for the blond hair, blue eyes, super fit humans, you know, a super race.

Oh, again, you already tried that......

Maybe history should have taught us something, maybe not.

Think you'll find that a relatively high proportion of achievers come from 'humble' backgrounds.
The more serious problem of reduction in selection pressure is, for example, that in 3 generations in the west we have gone from undernourished/life expectancy of 60-65 to porkers with a life expectancy of 75 plus.
Oh and there's still the problem of nuclear/chemical/biological proliferation and global warming. So just go sailing.

PS Don't think the Pope's with you on this one...

well were shall I start!!!

If all people were intelligent , who would be out politicians, or government officials,
Just think of the forms to fill in,

Imagen for a min that some one intelligent handed you a form say about say sail and motor boat recommendations,and it went something like this;

1/ what size of boat do you own,

2/what is its water displacement volume.

3/ what water pressure does it exert at [so destruction of the shallow river beds can be calculated and tax applied to your vessel as appropriate]
a/ knot
b/ 10 knots
c/15 knots
d/20 knots
c/25 knots
e/30 knots

anything over that speed please fill in form 283465thf

4/ what is your sail size in cubic meters [wind tax]

5/ what surface area do you have

6/what qualifications do the person in charge of the vessel have

7/ what area of water do you use said vessel in, [local congestion tax to be calculated]

etc
etc
etc

999/ please now fill out form 100987lp [so tax can be calculated for person pleasure tax]

All tongue in cheek and no offence meant/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Sounds like a great idea? The present government seem to be able to push all sorts of stupid legislation through. Why shouldn't it be possbile to regulate procreation. They put flouride in the water, why not birth control hormones?

Removing the 'telly init' plebians from the human gene pool would only be for the benefit of future generations.

Should I offer myself up for election to parliament under this banner: 'legislate, not procreate' ?

Oh I'd do away with the Pope at first chance. I was brought up as a Roman Catholic! Need I say any more!

I understand you can purchase a contract killler for about £100 in the east end of London. How much would they charge for expenses to travel to the Vatican?

You're missing the point. Well brought up individuals wouln't need all this form filling. They'd read the col regs, and then do the sensible thing while out on the water. Power boats would avoid wash near raggies, and maintain sensible speeds down rivers. Raggies wouldn't tack under stinkies bows.

Do away with all the sub standard intelligence individuals, and you wouldn't have any col reg debates on these forums? We'd all be discussing burgees and flags quite happily!
