Cherbourg 6th June. Spring Scuttlebutt

I suggested this to Fergus and Nigel about a week ago and wasn't sure wether to try and make it a Forum event due to the short notice and knowing the efforts the disorganisers have put into the Fowey trip, which i would have liked to attend but time didn't permit, but also i didn't want to feel under pressure (like I did last year) to do the trip in less than favourable conditions for my little boat.
As it stands the few of us who are looking at going have all sailed, drank and eaten together so we can decide wether to proceed on our own boats or crew for each other if conditions dictate. But we welcome new and old freinds

Our plans to cross Monday or Tuesday on hold following phone call am today, elderly member of our extended family very ill and in hospital. She's very dear to SWMBO , as looked after her when a child, so may have to dash up to Northampton in next few days.

Hoping to get over Mon 01/06 w&tp, from either Cowes or Chi Hbr, to be off my Dads beach on the 6th, if settled weather, then cruising westwards again for a week or so. Have to be back for the 20 June tho' Le Havre or Cherbourg first stop as wind dictates.

A 32 meter patrol boat called "Geranium" with just two machine guns?? I don't think they've got the hang of "walk softly and carry a big stick" yet...

In light of the sea area affected by the D-Day commemorations and the wind for the next three days, we are heading to Fecamp or St.Valery rather than Cherbourg (As we would otherwise be close hauled both ways) on this afternoon's tide.

Ennvirons of Fecamp very pretty. Followed cycle route this pm. .Now getting far too relaxed in evening sunshine with M. Pelforth Brune, a naturalized Englishman.

P,S, does anyone want to swap a storm jib to suit a ~35 footer (rust marks but probably unused) for.a smaller one?
