I have been in discussion with a couple of other forumites about the possibilty of a Spring Scuttlebutt to Cherbourg in preperation for the Big One organised by Roger (Sailfree) in September. There was also a thread started earlier in the year asking about a cruise in company to Cherbourg. To get the ball rolling we are looking at Friday 6th June and returning on the 8th. This date will be the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings. At the moment we have 2 boats leaving from Poole, then me and possibly one more from the Solent.

Will be sailing up French side of channel with intention of getting to Cherbourg by the 6Th where a friend, who lives there, has offered to drive me around for a couple of days
I do not have a PBO forum flag but I will be flying a " My Hanse" flag

Not sure of the exact dates yet, waiting for more accurate weather etc but Lustyd and I plan to be in Cherbourg at some point next week, moving on to the Channel Islands. From there we expect to cross to Falmouth and join the Scuttlebutt Fowey unorganised, dissorganised, not organised cruise/meet. I understand Prv has similar plans. Keep us in the loop just in case things work out.. Boat name Mordor mmsi 235082461 mobile 07900616023 Beneteau Oceanis 321 Thanks Alan

It's a shame the dates clash but when we looked into doing this we took into account the neap tide and long range weather forecast. Also I won't be able to get going till Friday morning which rules out the Fowey for me as I need to get back on Sunday night.

names of boats so far

FORTUNA a leisure 23sl
LADY IN RED a Colvic Countess 33
NEVER LOOK BACK a Sweden 41
And possibly SNARK a Nicholson 26

Colin,

Great that you are trying to organise this.

From responses it shows how important it is to set a date months ahead to maximise chance for people to make arrangements to keep date free.

Trust you will still make 13th September 2014 for the other Scuttlebutt cruise to Cherbourg.
