Please read my post earlier - the requirement for Swedish Residence is bypassed LEGALLY by using the Swedish Cruising Association ... you become a member (gives you various benefits like a number free mooring sites etc) ... then apply for Register.

English | Svenska Kryssarklubben

Some parts are better to view in original swedish and then use browser translate ....

Register membership - Member information

I am an English guy living in Latvia with Swedish registered boat.
I just tried the Swedish registry, it asks me for a BankID QR code scan right away, with no other options. How did you get around this requirement? It seems foreigners can't get BankID working.

TBH - I don't remember anything like that ....

I joined the SXK (Swedish Cruising Assoc) then filled in their International Certificate .... paid the money and got docs back. I'll have a look back - but I don't remember any hassle ...

I was under impression that you may go for another registration - given the path posts had taken ?

Actually Poland is not cheapest ... Sweden is significantly cheaper .... 50euros for 2 years ... no inspections ... no need for residency - you join Swedish Cruising Assoc ... and they issue the Certificate. Owner can be stated as a Company with a Person named as the Representative ... as mine : My Name on behalf of xxxxxx
Many boats in Baltics use Swedish Register .. you rarely see Polish unless its a Polish boat owner !
I was not able to do this. I joined the Cruising Assoc and was given a yellow certificate. However that's not same as a registration apparently. Tried then to apply for Swedish registry and they said it's not possible. How did you pull it off?

The Yellow Certificate is accepted as a 'Registration Document' .....

Of course you cannot go to the 'Govt Agency' for their Registration. But the Swedish Cruising Assoc are authorised to issue the 'Yellow' International Certificate in lieu of it.

Are you now limited in its use ? I have yet to see or know of any limitation ...

Many thanks - I was told by the association that I cannot put a Swedish flag on my boat with that certificate.
So I went the Polish way :(

Fine .. and I hope that all is good wherever you sail.

Flying the 'Flag' - that's the 'Official Line' ..... but you can go round the Baltic and various other areas - you will see Swedish Flags flying on such 'registered' boats ..... in fact here in Latvia - I am required to fly the Swedish Flag based on that document.... they require the flag of the issuing party .. Red Ensign for SSR / Part 1 ... German for German Docs etc etc.

Latvia is trying to get us to 'swap registry' to Latvian ... and in my case - where I bought a boat in Seden which had no registry - Latvia refuses to accept unless its a New Build from Factory / Dealer.
For a non new boat - it must have another registry to qualify for change to Latvian.

Guess what .............. The Latvian Inspector for this region - friend of mine - advises all to register via Swedish Cruising Assoc ... get 'Swedish Registration' than later apply to change to Latvian. Latvia regards the Swedish Cruising Assoc Yellow Certificate as valid Registration.... and require to fly the Swedish Flag !!

Many thanks - I would love to not spend the extra money which is so dire after buying a boat. I do worry that French, Italian, Greek, and Turkish authorities may not agree that the yellow form is enough. If that's the case, they may not let me in the country.

You don't need an accountant to run a simple UK LTD company.
AIUI, you can register a boat on part 1 using a LTD Co, without being UK resident, but to use cheapo part 3, you have to live here? And be an actual human not a LTD?

AIUI, the UK taxman is sensitive to companies owning yachts and making a loss on them while directors get use of them. However there can be valid reasons for holding a yacht in a LTD Co, like wanting to have shares in it.

There are probably other cheaper flags you can fly.
Have the rules changed, to have a LTD company used to require the accounts to be prepared by a Chartered Accountant.
