Cheap antifoul-any good?

Have to be careful with some brands as they have various grades. I'm using Jotun 48 month stuff. I tried their cheap stuff supposed to last 12 months and with daily running it lasted 3 months. The 48 month stuff from the same manufacturer is brilliant.

XM 2000.... depends on where you are really, as it does with all antifouls.

I used XM 2000, self eroding cruiser stuff this year. Apart from a bit of growth on the keels, due to tidal mud mooring they sink right in up to the hull each time, there isn't any growth/slime on her. OK, theres a bit of mud to clean off, but thats due to the 'sinking' each low tide not the antifoul. Would any other brand make a difference? I doubt it.

Going with Flag next year.

Used Flag (on the Blackwater) this year and certainly not perfect but no-one seems to have escaped fouling this year. Had to go on the scrubbing posts late summer due to engine water intake problem .......... weed growth was being drawn into the intake causing reduced water flow.

Flag have now confused the issue by introducing a range of products for next year but their web site doesn't give any clear indication of the differences between them........ probably just price. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
