"Datums" ???????????????????? ;)
Yes, "datums". This isn't the same word as "data", which of course is a plural noun anyway, for which the singular is "datum". However, "datum" in this context means "the framework within which measurements are made", NOT "a single measurement". Despite the identical spelling of the singular form, they are actually regarded as two different words and have different plural forms. Even my EXCEEDINGLY pedantic former boss accepted this distinction, and she certainly wouldn't have allowed me to use "data" as a singular noun! The distinction commonly arose in my work as a scientist working with geographic information.
