We - SWMBO and I, have chartered in the Ionian ,previously using 2 small companies who now have sadly retired .The last 3 years we have charted in the Aegean but will be sailing with 2 friends who have not sailed before, so have decided to introduce them to the Ionian.
Any information about small or recommended companies back in the Ionian would be gratefully received -We charter usually last week May into June .
Thanks

+1 for Sail Ionian. Some boats are older (think 2011 is the oldest) but you would be hard placed to tell. Owners and staff are excellent. Very happy customer!

if you are looking at Corfu then add Bobs Yachts and Pinnacle Yachts to your list.

If in Gouvia, I'd avoid Discovery. Nice guys, but we've used them twice and both times the boats have been poorly maintained and prone to problems. They are cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Another endorsement for Sail Ionian. Excellent. Have used them 3 times and wouldn't even bother looking elsewhere (having tried several others).

We’ve just got back from 2 weeks with sail Ionian, 1st class with no issues at all. Very good reputation in the area from all we spoke to.

For the best price go to www.latesail.com and put in the area and dates. It has 700 charter companies on the site and typically 6 - 7,000 yachts. It is still a buyers market too many yachts and not enough customers.

Why are you posting this? You have obviously not read the OPs question. If you had you would realise how useless this so called advice is to him. He is very specific about what he wants, and all the other posters have responded to his specific question.

+1. Both good friendly outfits. We had seven very happy years with Pinnacle before buying in the UK, which is why we are slowly making our way back...

Bob looked after my boat when I had it there. We are going to Corfu next week for the first time since 2010 when I left to sail back to UK.

Hope not too much has changed.

Since I sold my boat, I charter, mostly in the Ionian, re-living memories. Age!

I know most of the local outfits; used to run a fleet out there for 15 years. My first choice is: http://www.nisosyachtcharter.com/

Overseas activities are run by Laurie Campbell and his family. Laurie had been running fleets out there (Sunsail, Neilson) since the 1980's, then provided yacht management before setting up Nisos. He's adapted yacht turn-arounds to create extra sailing time.

If I can't book with him, I'd choose Sail Ionian. That's based on knowledgeable local recommendation. For smaller vessels (only two up) I do independent bare-boat with Neilson or Sailing Holidays Ltd. Very convenient.

I've tried Sunsail independent, but they were (then) rather bossy about how and when you should do things (always enter Vassiliki going astern!)

Sail Ionian for sure.
Neil and Di and the 'crew' are very focussed. They have many many happy repeat clients.
They go out of their way to fix problems (ie clients running out of diesel!!!).
The boats are better maintained than others, as most of the fleet are co-owned by private owners under the share transfer scheme. They now have an operation in the Caribbean, if that takes your fancy.
Also, you can see them at the boats show(s).
