I understand it's a frequent tactic at the harbour to avoid any liabilities by the estate, but this time it seems to have caused some alarm. I am looking with interest at one boat , having tried to buy it for several years: what happens on 22nd? Auction?. Shame for the harbour, and the decent folk that use it, it has declined in condition rapidly last few years. The old pilot boat is now a wreck, and several sunken boats, hulks and abandoned projects. It will be a big loss to boating on the Forth if it's closed off. As a well maintained harbour it would be more useful than the pipe dreams of Granton "marina".
I was envisioning a BFO crane, a very big digger and a series of very large skips.I understand it's a frequent tactic at the harbour to avoid any liabilities by the estate, but this time it seems to have caused some alarm. The number of pontoon berths at Burntisland is being increased, but I've no idea about vacant berths. I believe that one or two are normally reserved for visiting yachts. It's one of the few "always afloat" harbours in the Forth.Slight thread drift to tap the knowledge of the Forth folks, but if one wasn't able to get into Port Edgar for whatever reason, (which is the preferred location as my daughter lives a mile away), where would you recommend for a Folkboat?
It dries out. Granton marina seems directed to larger boats, though, if you look at their PR. Not much space for 9m and less. But there's already one sunken yacht in Granton so the Charleston boats could move across the Forth.
They keep writing to me offering a berth, so something might be happening. The last "news" on the new Edinburgh marina website is nearly 2 years ago! Is it really happening?
Hilarious. But as far as I can see no website?!They keep writing to me offering a berth, so something might be happening.
.. what happens on 22nd?
This is not really a problem as there are usuall places you could moor even if unable to reach your allocated berth due to neep tides.Slight thread drift to tap the knowledge of the Forth folks, but if one wasn't able to get into Port Edgar for whatever reason, (which is the preferred location as my daughter lives a mile away), where would you recommend for a Folkboat?
Indeed; a reading comprehension fail on my part.I think it means 'in June 2022' rather than 'on June 22nd.' as in thread title.
Boats to be removed by 1/6.
Turnip tides are not usually the problem. It's those pesky LWS (onions?)This is not really a problem as there are usuall places you could moor even if unable to reach your allocated berth due to neep tides.
The flats are incredibly expensive! 1 bed apartments from £469,000.....Re Granton: last time I drove past ( 2 weeks ago) all signage and branding has gone from the entrance. Flat building does proceed, so it may happen, but for whom? when? I think it’s all just marketing puff to sell overpriced flats on industrial land.

From a quick Google I wouldn't hold your breath about the marina. Camper and Nicholson were originally appointed as the operator. Then replaced by some other management company. But Google reveals no more.....
They were supposed to be either (i) extending the mole (ii) dredging over the winter but no sign of either. Not sure who would pay that money for a flat overlooking Granton harbour.
You could try the Forth Corinthians, though obviously travelling into Edinburgh is an unusual thing to do. Our moorings semi dry out but the mud is soft. Much, much cheaper than Port Edgar and a friendly club. A Folkboat would be about the average size for yachts at the club. Royal Forth are in the same harbour if you want a clubhouse with a bar.Slight thread drift to tap the knowledge of the Forth folks, but if one wasn't able to get into Port Edgar for whatever reason, (which is the preferred location as my daughter lives a mile away), where would you recommend for a Folkboat?
