Our current gas locker is just large enough to hold 2 camping gaz cylinders. We are now in the Caribbean. Does anybody know if there are any US propane cylinders the same (or smaller) physical dimensions to the 907 Camping Gaz cylinders?

US Propane Cylinder

We didn't find any to fit in our lockers but fitted two 10lb aluminium cylinders to the push pit along with a propane regulator. You can get fiberglass ones now, which are much cheaper. We waited until we arrived in Caribbean before we changed. You can get Camping Gas cylinders refilled with "Cooking gas" in most islands but in the French Islands, it is the ususal replacement system. However if you intend to head to US you must have approved propane cylinders. Hope this helps.

I doubt you'll find a fit.

I got a good tip I got while in the US, where I changed from Gaz to Propane - buy the regulator and fittings from Walmart where you pay a fraction of the price for exactly the same item sold in chandlers.

My Hallberg-Rassy was delivered with two EU tanks that are 7 or 8 kg each. In my case two US-spec 10 pound tanks fit in the locker. Interestingly even though the outer consumer threads on the US tanks don't fit, the gas whip in my locker fits into the internal refill threads and I haven't had to change anything on the boat.

In the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Bermuda you don't have to change. If you carry enough gas and won't be in the US too long you can stay with what you have. The only issue is that you won't be able to get refills.

5lb propane cylinders are available, diameter slightly less than a 4.5kg Calor Gas butane cylinder, which I think might fit.

They take a bit of finding, try larger chandlers. Also, with the OPD, you'll be lucky to get much more than 3½lbs per refill, which will last no time at all.

Some of the new fiberglass cylinders are narrow diameter though tall. But they are expensive.
