Hi There,

Anyone got any advice on the best book to explain how to take sunsights ands star sights using a sextant, which is EASY!!! to understand?

Cunliffe also covers celestial well with excellent illustrations in Ocean Sailing also from Fernhurst.

Agree violently! Cunliffe is simple,informative and readable.Don't think you can go wrong with him.

Planet identification and sights should be even easier than usual from mid-April to mid-May this year when, astronomers say, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn will appear close together in an almost straight line for the first time in 60 years.
