Cats eyes

Nowt to do with sailing but something which puzzles me is if you look in the rear view mirror when driving, why are the cats eyes reflecting white light and not the red of your tail lights?

I know that there are some places where they are trialing active cats eyes which do not reflect light but instead omit light generated using solar powered l.e.d.s .

This is a possible reason.

I think its to do with the intensity of the lights. Try your rear fog light and you should see some reflection. I Think!.

On slip roads they have cats eyes that reflect Red and Green. Clever init.

Could be they reflect the number plate light .

These are the modern ones I'm referring to , I wondered if they had some sort of 'memory'?
