Am thinking of recarpeting throughout and would appreciate any recommendations for carpet supplier and/or fitter (south coast). Does everybody use foam backed as I would prefer a carpet without fixed backing so that saloon overcarpet is easier to handle.
Many thanks

I use felt backed carpet from Carpet Right - cheap and doesnt fall apart when wet like the foam stuff. Only real drawback is that it needs double sided tape to hold it down, as it can be a tad slippery on GRP. Because it will last longer than foam back, it is worth having the edge sewn professionally so that it holds together (and looks lots better.)

Worth considering doing the double if you are at it.
You might want to get some of that barrier matting stuff from Halyard or similar product for reducing engine noise too.

Hi! I used a felt backed carpet from Alders which doesnt fray when left with a cut edge (well it hasnt up to now 6 months on ) and an expensive rubber underlay. With no underlay I found that the carpet "walked" which ever carpet was used (even if one doesnt go to sea much) the underlay also quietens the engine noise.
