i have heard that cardiff bay yacht club is a good place to venture to ,but it's not in the almanac . apparently they have 24 hr access in and out of the locks dividing the bristol channel and the bay ..but where are they located when you get into the bay?

As you leave the barrage locks inward bound you will see the clubhouse almost straight ahead. With yachts on swinging moorings at the mouth of thr river Ely.

Leave the yacht moorings close to stbd and proceed up to the club pontoons on your stbd side . Winter time I think the club is open Thursday nights and weekends.Phone number is 02920 226 575.

You may wish to visit Penarth Yacht Club - it cost £3 by taxi and is open pretty much all the time. Very good food at very reasonable prices - and the beer is £1.30 a pint.

Nothing against Cardiff bay YC but I have heard it is overun with fishermen and powerboaters ... that's why most of the sailors go to Penarth YC.
