Car warranted, or not ? (NB)

Developed a water leak from my Mondeo ghia x estate drivers door. I was advised by my Ford dealer that as my car is 14mths old I would not be able to have it repaired under warranty as "leaks" are only covered for 12 mths. Couldnt be arsed arguing on the phone so to cut a long story short I took door trim off and repaired a 10mm hole in the inner door waterproof membrane with silicone. Job took ten minutes and was 100% successfull. Manufacturers 3 year warranty my arse. Is any warranty worth the paper its written on ?

My Dad's Granada was 14 months old and the air-con packed in, as did the radio. Dealer didn't want to know. He went to the library and looked in the directory of directors and found Ford UK's boss man. Wrote him a stinging letter about sh!t customer service and hey presto! Huge apologies, spare car, his taken away and serviced repaired, and then returned in pristine condition.

That's the way to do it!

Yep - Granada! Thats going back a few years. He used to love 'em. Brilliant value for money at 5/6 months old 2nd hand. Cheap as chips and loads of spec!

Granada's eh. I had one of them and two cortinas and two escorts first car being a mk1 circa 1971. Also had two sierra's and one focus. Should have had extra customer care for my loyalty dont you think. As I say I could have argued the toss and probably got satisfaction (cos I am good at ranting and generally causing a stink) however I was just in that couldnt be arsed mode and at least I know the jobs done right and no hassle with cuortesy car for the day etc.
