Car parking at Oban?

For info I spoke to Hazlebank and they no longer offer long term car parking. However Stobbarts nearby do, in a covered shed. Apparently they have limited capacity and high demand - at £7/day.

Thanks for the update on Hazelbank, useful to know.

But Stobbarts? Not Stoddarts, the motor bike and outboard people?

A local polis suggested that just ignoring the restrictions leads to a £30 fine time unlimited. He claimed no facilities for clamping or towing.

I stayed in an AirBnB in Munich last autumn. Parking outside was officially restricted, but the owner said that no cops had ever been seen there and that in any case it was only a €5 fine.

It's even easier here in Dumfries and Galloway. The local council saved money by failing to get civil responsibility for parking offences set up, so when Police Scotland stopped dealing with parking there was, and is, nobody able to give a ticket. The situation looks likely to continue indefinitely, as it would now take a Holyrood act to get the council powers and that would cost money they don't have. So for now the cops will only take action in cases of serious obstruction, like parking over a pedestrian crossing, and otherwise all single and double yellow lines are fair game at all times.
