I saw a boat canted over on its trailor. Was this to reduce its road width? What size boat could this be useful for?

How can one measure the heeled width with the boat upright in a cradle if contemplating doping this method of transporting a boat?

Some years ago a friend bought a new Superseal 26 from John Baker.
It was delivered on a special canting trailer which reduced the beam of 9ft 3" to a road legal 8ft 5".
It was very tight and I think the driver carried a letter stating the measurements.

Yes generally for boats just over the legal maximum with for trailing (by general punters, without an escort vehicle etc).
Often small race boats, and designed from scratch to do so.
