A bit of sibilance then? We used a Neumann mic when the artist was a bit more spray than say, normally we used Calrec mics.I worked for Olympic Studios and Trident Audio (building/installing their mixing consoles) in the late 70s. Just installed a Gobius tank level detector today, cleaning wipes were Isopropyl Alcohol. A familiar smell from cleaning tape heads and getting Mick Jagger's spit out of a Neumann mic.
Can't remember the make of the desk it was 16 to 8 to a 1" 8 track Studor deck with a final mix down to a stereo pair on a 1/4" Studor deck. Monitoring was with Quad amps and Tannoy speakers. Our biggest work was making cassettes with Cetek-Gauss endless loop master and 4 slaves running at 32:1 When I wasn't fiddling with the equipment I was on quality control listening to the mass produced cassette tape before it was wound into the cassettes.
