Cable touching engine!!

Can anyone suggest something to put around this cable to stop it from touching the engine and melting.
It is cable tied across the back of the engine bay which is half impossible to get to and I dont really want to disturb the other wires that are cabled up with it to try and get any slack.
Would be much easier if I could just lag the cable with something that is heat resistant.

Any suggestions appreciated

I would disturb the other wires sharpish - that doesn't look good. Do you know what the wire is for? If its got anything to do with the batteries or starter motors things could get exciting. Is it the throttle cable? either way I would get it clear of the engine.

Definitely. If it's a battery cable, think what the effects of a fire might be.

It's a throttle cable, the boat has been re engined 10 years ago and it's been shoe-horned in, you even have to take the air intake off to get to the battery. The wires all run accross the back of the engine bay which is a nightmare to get to.

As you can see the engine is much bigger than it's meant to be and there is just no room

That's what it needs long term, but don't want to start doing a big job like that now, wanted a temporary fix until winter. It's been like it 10 years but just noticed the melted bit.
 
Will have to look into that Demon tweeks as a temporary fix, thought of maybe one of those heat matts that plumbers use to put against the wall or skirting board when soldering, they must not absorb heat or else the wall would burn.

I think you will find that fitting a longer morse cable properly routed will be less time consuming than botching the job.
 
Rather than run a new longer cable in, which you can see from picture will be difficult to access, would it be possible to extend the existing one.
If I bought a short cable, about 4 feet long, is there a coupling I could get to join them together.

Not a good option even
 
I took a look at my kad32 today and see the red throttle cable runs inside some corrugated plastic trunking . This is sufficient to protect the cable from the heat of the engine and also protection from physical damage due to engine vibrations. i have taken a photograph but cant post it on here it until I get home tomorrow.
The gear selector cable is in a more substantial rubber outer case. However this need not necessarily touch the engine if there is something nearby to strap it to.
