I can thoroughly recommend the Refleks diesel heater. Super glow and really comforting and economical. Also benefits from using a single fuel supply source.
I have used mine in November and December and have had happy warm crews sleeping in the saloon as a result. Dries out the cabin too so leaves you with warm dry clothing for the restart.

On board as i type this .. just thrown a small square of firelighter into my reflex diesel heater and turned it on .. nice and warm.. and the kettle on top of it will boil in a few minutes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hi,did alot of research and settled on a taylor's deisel.
not the small bulkhead mounted one.
i bought it about 10 yrs ago and when i sold ''olga'' my 42 ft ketch earlier this year , it was still working perfectly.
i lived for ten yrs onboard , 2yrs on the river conwy .
only maintenance ever required was cleaning the filter and the flue.
it was about 24 " high 15" deep and 18" wide.
had an iron hob , usefull for a big kettle and slow cooking.
i tried putting petrol soaked cloths and tissue on top to test for starting fires , never ignited so very safe.also had a regulator [ships] whch cut fuel off if boat heeled too much also if excess fuel in regulator.
had a water jacket inside too,and i could even use underneath as a grill.glass front and flames visible so has look of a solid fuel fire , fooled most visitors.

I have a Refleks heater which I like, but I'm having problems with it at the moment. Do you find the cold slows your heater down? I'm not getting enough fuel through the carb. so it's not getting to a decent temperature. Any advice gratefully received!
