Buying an Invicta 26

just to throw in a bit of realism. I am re-fitting a contessa 32, and lucky that the engine doesn't need replacing. However by the time you factor in electronics, consumables, rigging, sails, winches etc the cost will be over 20k on the refit and that is doing everything myself. I am deliberately not counting the cost so that is how much I say it is costing when asked at home.

The good news is that you will end up with a boat that you know inside out.

Also I planned on it taking a year, I will be lucky to finish within 2 years and I am semi retired.

Thank you, we believe so too! £400 for the boat too so more than happy to split that + maintenance cost.

I see you're in Galicia too! We plan to take the boat to O Vicedo where we have a home in the coming year (or two)!
Never been to OVicedo but as you know the Galician coast is full of little harbour sand anchorages…….you never know If we do get a boat we may meet up in some Galician bar😂

Thank you for the reply! The engine is ticking over, it's a beta marine 14 and wont be rocket science to work on (luckily one of us is a mechanic). The boat is already full of electronics from Garmin and Raymarine. If they're not in working order right now, fixing them will always be cheaper than buying new. The sails have been bagged so are very fortunately in really good condition, just need a good jet wash. Rigging and winches are a bit here and there, so the cost will be somewhat expensive there but nothing near 20k.

Theres a life raft thats just about still within expiry, but we will have to get a new one soon. Theres also a really good tender with the boat that we will have to buy an outboard for, so there's some cost there.

The boat is in very nice condition for the most part. Definitely needs some antifouling and a new paint job. Roof window hatch needs fixing and has been left open for a while so theres an inch or so of water inside (expecting some rot and there is some dampness of course). We know that the last owner lived full time in the boat

My bad - okay thank you. I'll keep an eye out
Invictas are great boats but if you cannot move it i have afriend with a Sadler 25.5 for sale which already has its own trailer. It is at Bradwell in Essex. That means you can take it home & keep it there on the trailer then tow it to a new berth. The boat will not cost much. Needs tidying up but does have a working engine & sails are OK. Did join us on club cruises . you would get it now if you wanted it. Sadlers sail very well. Owner is selling as he has bought newer bigger boat.
