Hi all
New to YBW as a member but lurking for a while.
We’re actively looking to purchase a sailing yacht and have seen a few based in Montenegro. The boat will most likely be Tax Not Paid, which isn’t an issue for us. We also understand the process for the change of ownership/flagging of the boat. What we are struggling to find out is if the boat was taken to Montenegro by the current owners and they checked in and received their crew list etc how do we change everything over to us as new owners?
We have heard that all we need to do is inform Customs that we are the new owners and take the boat out of Montenegrin waters (they monitor the boat to ensure you have done this) then return and check in as the new owners. Only dues to pay would be the Cruising and Tourist Tax due to it being a foreign boat.
Does anyone have any experience with this - obviously we want to make sure we know if any additional costs could be associated with any purchase.
