buying a boat for the Med

any recommendations for choice of boat based on costa del sol. 30 foot or under, diesel powered, sleeps 4/5. capable of cruising comfortably all day. Main use would be picnics along the coast or odd long voyage to France or Italy. budget price €100k.
I had intended to buy a sports cruiser but am put off buy fuel usage of 20+ gallons per hour.

Poniente (west) and Levante (east) are the names of the winds. They tend to blow strongly for some time - 2 weeks in a row is not very unusal - blowout of the Atlantic into or out of the Mediteranean.

Every time when I was there, the wind did blow from the wrong side... A strong engine with good seakeeping capabilties is a plus.

This area is called "mar di alboran" (sp?) Check the appropriate sailing books and read between the lines and you will know what to expect.
