Hi gents, well I got fed up of the gallery window leaking so pulled it out yesterday to rebed. I had planned to use Butyl tape, but read on one of the pages here that in hot climates it melts?
I'm currently in Barcelona, ok it's not hot, but in the summer I'll have warmer Mediterranean temps, will Butyl tape be ok in constant warm temperatures?
Have used it a lot on vehicles in the UK to success, so would like to use it again..

Bit of linguistic confusion here. Butyl doesn't "melt", but it does soften at elevated temperatures, and may continue to extrude very slowly for a while after the window is clamped down. This will not stop it sealing, but you may be inclined to trim off the excess.
(Based on years of experience with the stuff on the large sea due east of Barcelona.)

I sealed all my hatches with the stuff , two full summers in the med since I done them.
it's bloody good stuff , but as Mac said it will squeeze out of a bit .
The great thing about this stuff is you can easily remove your window again if need be .
