Butane or Progane.

Give your cooker propane or butane at the appropriate pressure and it'll be happy. The pressure is different, which is why here, we have different regulators with different fittings.

I don't know what would happen if you filled a butane system with propane or vice versa, but I'd quite like to watch from a safe distance.

A lot of modern cookers used in the Caravan market ara designed to work with either. That is with no further adaption, I have no idea how this is done.

The 30 mbar is the pressure delivered by bulkhead regulators in caravans and motorhomes. Suitable for either propane or butane. Bottle regulators deliver 28 mbar for butane and 37 mbar for propane
You can get 30mb dual fuel bottle mounted regulators too

The old system was two different pressures for the two gases

Mine says 29mbar .
So the question is will that be suitable for both or will I need 37Mbar

If Vyv's interpretation of the label on your cooker is correct a 30 mb (dual fuel ) regulator is required ............. but you'll getaway with the 29mb one for now but change it at the end of its 10 year life

By careful planning of the installation you should be able to make it so that you can switch easily between butane and propane , only needing to change pigtail or cylinder adaptor.

1kg water boiled with propane @ 38mB .> 7'15"
1kg water boiled with propane @ 30mB .> 7'30" (annex M regulator)
Same kettle, same cooker(smev), times might be a little out but wasn't much in it.

Can't get butane where we are , well I can but it's €44 for a 907 a much bigger bottle of propane twitch the size of 907 €18 .
So I'm plain just to buy the propane and by the sound what's been said I can just fit it .

My cooker ENO has a label that say 30Mbar Butane G30
Progane G31
Am I right in saying the cook can be used of eve gas ?
Thanks

I have an old 2 hob + Oven cooker from the 1980's on my boat based on UK Calor Butane.

I brought boat to Latvia where the gas is a Butane / Propane blend due to winters of -30C or lower. (My Co lab was the test facility for LPG in this market for many years).

I exchanged my UK ballon with local ballon ... and cooker was fine ... in fact I did not notice any difference. My Full English breakfast was just as good.

I Been refilling my bottles 907 for a while now with butane but as I said it's been getting hard to find the big bottles of Butane .
Next buy will be propane
When we lived and sailed in The Netherlands we were using butane but in winter it was often too cold for the bottles. We used to fill a thermos with hot water the night before to pour over the bottle.

Good thinking Vyv , Netherlands is where we are at the moment , bigger butane bottles to use so we can fill oir 907 are hard to come by at the moment which is why im looking at filling our 907 with propane .
Do you see a problem with mixing say a 50/50 mix or am I pushing my luck?

I built our house and we lived on site in an ancient caravan, we ran everything on propane, gas fire and camping stove. We had one week where it went down to -13 C all week, if we had been on Butane it would have just not worked. There is also more calorific value in the Propane than Butane, so the kettle will boil quicker if using propane.
If I was cruising in the Northern Europe going into the cold months I would be on Propane.

The trouble with 50/50 is it's just like a refinery distillation column - the propane will burn off and leave the butane as liquid that won't burn. This happened to us in Spain in winter on Autogas. Only answer was to vent off the butane and refill. Or heat the bottle.
