The oil pressure sender on my DV20 needs replacing. The prices I have been quoted for a new Bukh part are eye watering. Does anyone know the part number of a non-Bukh replacement please or where I might find the thread type details to source the market. Thanks.

Furneau Riddell supply all the VDO sender's etc. Might be worth a look but probably not much difference in price.

Hi all.
Thanks for the help. I rang Norris and they quoted me around £300.00 !!!! Bukh was dearer!!!
There seems to be confusion in terminology between the sender and the switch. I bought a switch on ebay for about £15.00 which was great but when I explain to suppliers that I want the sender unit which tells the gauge the pressure reading its a whole different price.
I think VDO MAY have a suitable unit but I would like to know the thread measurement of the bukh unit to order an equivalent. Sellers don't seem to know this info. If I don't succeed I 'll pull the old one out in the winter and try to go forward from there. The thread info seems to be a minefield. I m sure someone here has cracked the prob in the past. Thanks for all the help.

Mine is a Faria instrument panel not the standard Bukh version. It includes oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, rev counter and voltmeter.

I'd take a guess and say something like a 1/8" npt sender from somewhere like ASAP Supplies or furneux riddell would be suitable. Just need to find which resistance range your Faria gauges run at.

I just had some success in light of this conversation. The Furneau Ridall site has a table showing thread types for different engines. Bukh is shown as requiring M10 x 1. They also sell adapters for NPT 1/8" but the one listed is M10 x 1.5. I think a phone call is needed on Monday. Wonderful what a little conversation can produce. Thanks to all. A gauge giving a wrong reading is far worse than no gauge at all.

I think what you are looking for is Bukh part no. 552J0926 called 'Pressure Gauge Indicator' in the Bukh Spares List ('Manometer-giver' is the Danish name they give it).

LSM Diesel in Denmark (who seem something of Bukh specialists) list the 552J0926 'Oilpress geeber' with no price, but do list same number but with 'R' prefix R5520936 'Oilpress geeber' at 1,083 Krone, which comes out about £165 with 25% VAT. Might be worth contacting them to check if it's equivalent. http://www.lsm-diesel.dk/2012/besti....&n2=Beskrivelse&n3=Pris ekskl. moms&n4=Antal

(I've no connection with them.)

Many of these marine parts can be replaced by auto parts however details of the Bukh part need to be established. We would want to know if two wire or single wire with body earth and details of the male thread as even now there are both imperial and metric threads found on these. In Scotland we have Pentland Components and Dingbro who have many substitute parts at sensible prices. A solonoid for a Volvo starter £29.00 try and find the Bukh part number as sometimes they can work from this. Halfords could have one for less than £100 as they sell gauges and senders to the boy racers.

I may have resolved the problem. I looked at the huge Furneau Ridall catalogue and on page 75 it lists the Bukh engine as requiring a sender with thread M10 x 1.5 instead of M10 x 1 as shown on the site application table.
And lo! They have a VDO sender 360 - 001 with thread M10 x 1.5 for £37!!!. I have emailed FR for clarification with fingers crossed.
By the way the Faria resistance figures are 10 - 180 ohms
And the VDO sender is 10 - 184 ohms.
Wish me luck.

By coincidence I am in exactly the same situation as you, looking for the same part for my Bukh DV20 and asking around probably the same people, the same questions about sourcing the correct oil pressure sender! When you get some feedback from FR I will probably be ordering the same part. Many thanks and good luck!

The saga continues. FR replied that their catalogue contains a number of typos the result of which is that the Bukh engine thread size is confirmed by FR as M10 x 1.
Again FR shows a VDO SENDER NO. 360 081 030 014 with thread M10 x 1 the required size on their site but their catalogue shows the same unit but with thread M10 x 1.5.
So another email will go off to them for clarification and I will report back.
There is a second option and that is a WEMA sender with 1/8 X 27 NPT AND an adapter both from WEMA. Total cost
£47.00. Which is good but I would prefer to do without the adapter. The resistance figures are the same as VDO.
Not a lot of work. Just patience and save £100 or more.
