Broken sails ?

I seem to have broken a sail or two and it says I need to buy kits to repair them. Will they be automatically fixed at the end of the Leg or is that it unles I cough up?

I heard a rumour that North Sails will be sponsoring the sails for the official game for leg 2.
In fact it's more than a rumour, as it was from the horse's mouth.
