Broken down : help !

Are you staying on her tonight (the boat, you fool;)) or have you got her secure and able to get home?

If its any consolation we have all been there and sometimes its a good kick up the bum to find out whats under those floorboards.
Can add a bit of confidence that if it happens again, even if you are are not able/inclined to fix it,you almost know whats going on.

At least next time you can announce authoritively to the wife that its the
"Thrimbleworthal" blocked again" and a cup of tea is needed while you take charge, commenting on the lonelyness of command and reluctantly switching on your mobile phone !

I'm sure that's very true.....in all respects.

At least the boat and crew are safe: fixing it will be the easy bit.

Hoping to get someone out tomorrow.

In my dreams!

Made it through the night....I could feel the frost on the other side of he bed: almost arctic when I woke

At least she let you inside the boat........................so when are you getting a boat with big flappy sheets on it?

As your boat is new to you I wonder whether it may be the dreaded diesel bug lurking within.
Happened to me years ago before I knew that an alien existed. Not total blockage, just enough to stop the engine lift- (in my case suck -) pump being of any effect.
Only happened when fuel levels were low.
Filter didn't appear to be infested (all gunk held within and no staining at the filter ends).
Ran fine for two further years (and regular servicing) without any problems because I kept the fuel topped up.

Then I found Dr. Collings patent fuel de-constipation cure and never looked back.

I'm sure young Mr. Savage would have spotted any major infestation if it were apparent - his ilk are always very thorough; it's the Jet-A1 that runs in their veins.

The only flaw in my analysis is this dratted fuel running backwards....
Filter above the tank?
Bleed screw slightly open?
Got be some air somewhere, else stuff won't move and that air leak source has to be above the tank.

Any fuel in the engine oil?

Shes now running... Gears disengaged -slightly higher revs... Will leave to warm up for 10 mins ( hopefully) before I touch anything.

Please Sir,
that may not fix it: If my theory is correct there could be enough fuel getting past the "blockage" to let it tick over even at higher revs.
Bung it in gear to increase the fuel flow. Don't need it to move large quantities of water, just a bit above tick over (might) prove the point.

Bak to square one.... Spoken with Ross: possibly the fuel pump .... Have to go home now: houseful of guests going to take the mick out of me all day: heartless boogers !
