Last post I saw was in the "Forum News & Feedback" section telling Admin (in no uncertain terms) what he thought of the forum.

Forums are a dead medium nowadays aren’t they? Facebook groups took over a long time ago.
Inability to post proper pics easily doesn’t help. Pop up ads, inconsistent moderation all compound it.
I don’t remember this forum being much busier when I used to come here 10 years ago!

Facebook groups works horribly compared to a forum. I hate it to be honest. Can never follow a thread if indeed it uses the principle of threads

To be fair there are still some very popular successful forums out there.

However, this one is being run into the ground as you say. The moderators are totally out of touch with the members and the software is awful.
Agreed
I spend a huge amount of time learning from computing and electronic forums.
Without the help that the posters provide on forums, I wouldn't be able to build all the pointless projects that I do in retirement.
They are packed with information which I'm sure isn't the case with social media platforms like Facebook.

I joined this forum back in the early 2000's and learned loads from it.
At that time I always said that 90% of the stuff was rubbish but that last 10% was worth every bit of it.
I still learn from this forum though so it isn't all bad.

As to the software, I have built and run my own forum for our marina in Spain.
Over the years the software has grown and developed.
The last upgrade was about 4 years ago.
At that time, I used this (YBW forum) as a benchmark for "how NOT to do it"
IMHO, there is lots wrong with this site - hopeless photo uploads and rubbish mobile mode (RWD) - just to mention a couple.

I think this forum is dying a death and any keen member not being involved is a loss to the Forum
I think that it’s not dying but being killed....the company’s instructions to the mods seems designed to repel as many members as possible. It would be nice if the mods said to the company that enough is enough...always a mystery to me why they are so compliant

Why would the company want to kill of its own forum ?

Well I am going to disagree some of you. I find the debate interesting. Although a few do get upset at the obvious "wind up" which I often cannot help.
I find the layout easy. Images are not hard to load provided one accepts that one has to reduce the size first. that is quite easy using progs such as pixer resizer. I have to do the same for the My hanse forum. This is a far better forum for easy access.

I have no problem with adverts. But I do use Adblock plus & Ublock origin. They both stop annoying adverts on you tube as well & are extremely good on the firefox platform. I do not use Google chrome. I use Windows 11

I use a RC flying forum as well as 3 model engineering forums. Only one engineering forum comes close & its imaging process is rubbish.

I was banned for a month for a so called racist comment. But considering i made a comment about those who effectively released a virus that killed hundreds of K's I feel that I was justified & racism was not the point of my particular post. Even the Duke of Edingburgh can get away with reference to looks. I am just annoyed that I could not enter into discussion with the admin team to put my point. They may have seen differently & just deleted my post & made the point. Unfortunately some get "offended" & that is it
But that happens on all forums. Not just this one. So much for "free speech"
But over all I give this forum a full thumbs up (y)
