We've just had a fit. EasyJet has axed their Stansted to Brest flights. Late last year, the Brittany Regional Council and their local media was trumpeting loudly that the flights were being increased to two a day. Brill. Town to the moules frites in 3 hours.
That was more than ideal for those of us using the Moulin Blanc, as well as Camaret and other marinas in the region, without suffering the blackmail prices, and stinkingly filthy and ancient Rustbucket Roscoff.
Surprise, surprise, that Brittany Ferries have now ratcheted up (yet again) their fares. We have just been quoted £176 (on their web site) one way for two foot passengers from Roscoff to Plymouth, day sailing, no cabin or reserved seat, on a Monday.
Last year's price for the equivalent sailing was £128.
If you are planning extended cruises in Brittany this summer, be warned. The only direct flights to Brittany from UK are now into Dinard, apart from BA / Air France to Brest - at £448 single per person on the same day.

The Brother has a wee place near St Malo and decided to fly last weekend. Blackpool - Stansted then Stansted - Dinard all with Ryanair. The Blackpool plane never got off the ground as they were having technical difficulties which meant they couldn't get to Stansted in time for the connection to Dinard. The only compensation they are entitled to is fare for the Blackpool flight which was a 99p plus taxes job.
