Need to know make , model (HP) and year to be sure but I think that screw is the slow speed jet
Idle speed and slow speed mixture adjustment where shown. Access to the mixture adjustment is probably plugged to prevent tampering

Hi it’s a Tohatsu 6 hp2018

What I guessed. Therefore parts as I suggested

Screwdriver slot already looks a bit damaged. Grind a screw driver blade to fit the slot. Nice and square , No rounded edges.

Could try a little heat> aluminium does expand a little more than brass > and a good release oil ( eg Plus Gas.

The jet needs to be screwed back in.

Remove the plug to access the adjusting screw and turn out a little at a time ( note the amount )

Can I suggest that the issue may just be the very common one that these particular engines suffer from ? That being that it’s taking oil into the carb. Can happen with too much oil but more commonly after sitting on its side during storage or transport. Even if it’s been on the correct side. Total pain and requires a carb clean each time after

That may explain the smoke but the fact remains that the idle jet has been partly unscrewed and cannot now be screwed back in

I’d be almost sure that if he takes the carb off, looks in at the seating position near the throttle barrel (to understand what it’s doing)…and uses the right size screwdriver…all will be well. Likely it’s hard seated I’d suspect. Shouldn’t be all the way in anyway…as you’ll know
