boats that built britain BBC4 7:30 tonight

I couldn't see anything there. I looked on p1 and p4.

I found your pix very entertaining of course.

edit - oh sorry that's your signature of course.

ah i see! :)

was just on about TV ! Dont think you can see it over there in Brisbane .

Sorry about the floods:eek: ! Hope they are going ,gone !! We had a little bit of a flood problem in Sheffield a couple years ago . Nothing like as bad as over your way though, just a suburb or two! The building where I have my workshop in Chesterfield was flooded badly fortunately I'm on top floor so didn't affect me much, just no access for a week .

Thank you Fergie,

The floods were only an inconvenience to me fortunately.

As for documentary TV programs, I see some on my fairly basic cable subscription. It can be very patchy. I have seen some of the "3 Men in a Boat" series for example, but not the Scottish voyage. Sometimes they come along months later on SBS, the free-to-air multicultural channel.

There is more of a bias toward programs of USA origin. I can't think of ever seeing any USA boaty ones.

It will/does work, but you need either a dedicated server in the UK on a UK ISP, or use a computer of a friend in UK who leaves their computer on, and either proxy server or VPN to it, to access the internet from the UK as the british tv sites will see the access as from UK. There are free and paid proxy server sites, but the BBC especially can detect common use of those and block them, and the free proxy servers sites were never designed for streaming video and handling many people trying to use them at once for this, and are incredibly slow and cannot cope with streaming video, so pretty useless.

So, it's possible to set up, but basically you need a computer which is always on and connected to internet in the UK when you want to watch UK tv. The other option is to use a slingbox or similar, but still needs someone in UK to host it, but people who live in the UK and spend time abroad seem to find it useful.
