They used to be Essex Boat Yard, the Arvor dealers. I've met them at boats shows, they are real people who you can call and natter to

They have most of the boats out of the water accessed by wooden walkways.
Best bet is go the office to say you are there and they'll tell you whats open or give you keys to what you are interested in.

You can just turn up though and have a wander

thanks jez will look on their listings first

I went to the Essex one yesterday with my wife and I announced my arrival at the office and then off we went on our own to look inside and outside the boats on the hard. The boats are either unlocked or the keys are in a locker in an obvious place. These were the boats on the hard not on the water

I know this company well. I have purchased three boats from them. They are an excellent company to do business with, agility and flexibility are there in abundance, and when it comes to snagging they are the best in the business. I would use them again in a heartbeat

Roy, I dealt with these guys last time. Nice to deal with. I would ring first as you're going a long way. I had a sea/river trial with no deposit, I think Darren realised I had come from so far that I wasn't messing around.
We did a PX and I was happy with the offer, he 'threw' in antiflouling, service, delivery and lifts.

I have dealt with the Barkes many times and they will find the boat and deal that works for you. They take a lot of PXs (5 from me) and your perfect boat might be on it's way in, so I would recommend you call beforehand. If you are not sure what you want, you can wander all day long - there is enough on site to satisfy any boat junkie.

Nice people to deal with, our previous boat came from EBY with delivery, collection of our part ex all rolled up in one easy package
I would call first just to check what you want to look at is still available and as said, they may have something en route.

I bought my boat there as well. Darren was nice to deal with - Had a small issue under warranty and I was told to just have it fixed for his account. Payment for the issue came in quickly - Darren is quick on answering both phone and emails. Will be glad to deal with them again.

If they readily do P/X with fair offers that is quite a thing as the downside of changing boats is the long time scales waiting to sell a boat and all of the cost, myther and hassle that goes with that.

It took just over three weeks for us. From sea trial and agreeing a price to the swap taking place up in Conwy.
We too had a small issue with the calorifier which was fixed rapidly under warranty. Can't really fault them, may have got a grand or two more selling privately but I'm an impatient sort of chap. As it was we had a week of glorious weather after the launch.

We part ex'd on a brokerage boat
I guess they actually bought our boat to broker the deal and then sold it on as a stock boat

Excellent firm. I've bought my last three boats from thrm
They will at least try to do p/x on brokerage boats, sometimes by asking the owner of the brokerage boat to take the p/ex, and BCU then sell that.

Yep - a very good business to deal with IMO, even on the occasion when a deal falls through, they are quick to return a deposit without any fuss, a true sign of a business that takes pride in maintaining a good reputation and rapport with its customers. I often pop down there when visiting relatives to have a nose and would have no hesitation in doing business with them again.

Well we went on Thursday in the end they had nothing thar was right for us ,as they are selling before the boats get there which is good news for them ,but I asked about part ex and they said they can't if you do not have original VAT receipt yes that old one again
