Well, not really - just 50%.
I just sold one of my two toys, the smaller one which allowed me to say that my average speed on the water was 30+ knots...
Now, I'm back to proper cruising, with one figure speed/low fuel burn! :)
Can't complain though, lately I never had time enough to use both, and if given a choice, the sea beats the lake hands down in almost all respects. Not to mention that she has been my first boat ever which I actually sold for more that I paid...
So, farewell, bad girl. It's been a short but intense love affair!
Apologies to those which still had pending invitations for a fast pace lake tour, I'm afraid I won't be able to offer that anymore.

Funny, you know what?
Speed is addictive, and if the boat still handles well at 70mph, as mine did, you quickly get to the point where you think it's not enough.
If I'll ever consider another similar toy, it will surely be an air entrapment machine, and MUCH faster.
...but don't tell that to SWMBO, LOL!

You guys obviously never tried this restaurant. You wouldn't believe how good some lake fishes can be.
...and you can also try some barefoot waterski at the nearby school, if you dare!

Re. the sound, I couldn't agree more.
Coming to think of it, it's worth changing my avatar with a commemorative pic of the straight thru-hull exhaust...! :D
And below is the video I think you're talking about, with some real sound of the beast...

just watching the Fountain video again, she was a lovely machine, and in the closing seconds, up on the slings, you could see her deep, sharp entry bow/fore-foot. Must of had a great head-sea/chop ride.

You bet. Below is a pic of a friend of mine in the US. Same boat, though with a 600+ hp block, capable of 85mph.
How's that for a hull which is actually just 25' or so?
LOL, I'd better stop thinking about her now, or I'll make an offer to her new owner... :D

Oddly, I spotted a rather gorgeous black Fountain by Royal Lymington YC on Saturday just as I was heading back to my berth up the river. I thought of your (ex-)boat. Then, just after I'd moored, four or five Bajas came down the river from the town quay. Quite a day for seeing high performance boats.

She must have been the 29 with the 600 SCi blue engine.
VERY similar to the 27, unless you're familiar with these boats, but allegedly even slightly faster and stable.
Lovely setup with the 600, surely good for high 80s...
...if it weren't for the colour, that is.
That boat (which was also for sale, when I bought mine) was one of the last imported by the former UK dealer, before they went belly up.
She has been the subject of debates on other forums, 'cause the deck gelcoat had quickly and badly faded.
Interestingly, it seems that the factory sent a written disclaimer about that to the dealer, when the "all black" was requested, but apparently the dealer didn't warn his client...

hm, two weeks ago, when visiting our friends in Bologna, I presented them a route plan that included, Firenze, Siena, Cinque Terre, Como and Venezia.
They approved all but Como, said I should wait for 15odd years, reach 60 and then go there (not that I'd find it by just driving around the lake I'm sure...)

So, thanks for the pointer, next time I'm around I'll pay a visit if only to have for once a tasty lake fish (still consider that a contradiction in terms)

Well, each to their own.
Plenty of celebrities who own various villas along the lake shore seem to think differently...
Besides, would your friends from Bologna come and try how old they feel while barefooting at 40 kts? :D

Yeah, these days it's up to us foreigners to use a decent English vocabulary around here, you know... :D

oi, Italian, that's ours :p
[no I've not seen the my big greek fat wedding or whatever that film was called]

from wikipedia:
Oxymoron is derived from the 5th century Latin "oxymoron", which is derived from the Ancient Greek "ὀξύς" (oxus, sharp) + "μωρός" (mōros, dull).[1] The Greek "ὀξύμωρον" (oxumōron) is not found in the extant Greek sources, according to the Oxford English Dictionary.[2]

moros imho is not quite dull, it's more like idiot (as in moron) So it's like calling something sharp/smart and stupid at the same time, if it makes any sense
