It's been quite a haul and -phew- I was ( as you could tell) tiring a tad of the plethora of hypothetical questions...

Now it's all practical hands on.

It is amazing how a simple nonskid repaint can transform a boat ( and of course you know that)).

Golly, nice time line to bolt a bracket on the back and Va Va Voom!

Genuinely pleased for you and your prospect ( I like the wee webs across the keel stubs.. A squirts of Sikaflex under each nut, one at a time..?)

so does that mean that the keels have been partially strengthened?

I think that I will put a bracket on the back carrying the Tohatsu gives me a plan B in event of the inevitable lobster pot encounter
 
I am not familiar enough to give a useful answer Dylan but they are there, there is no obvious deflection stress cracking g nor sag and it is a later year boat. Maybe get The Centaur Guru(s) to speak knowledgeably on your exact photo evidence?

I think it is great that you have got to the start line and the dog looks happy too.

But slightly dissapointed to be denied the outboard well installation experience......:~{

the well thing would have been an interesting experiment - and I still think it would have worked a treat

but to tear out a good engine would not be rational

but if this engine goes zip in a terminal way then I can always go back to the well plan

Congratulations. I am very relieved that the well idea had been ditched and that the outboard will only be used as a back up.My parents had a couple of Westerly Centaurs from the early 1970's till they quit sailing due to advancing years in the early 90's having cruised extensively from Ireland round the inner and outer Hebrides. My experience of them was that to make progress to windward you needed to motorsail. Hence an inboard will be great to push what is a relatively heavy boat in adverse conditions.

I dont think the keel stubs have been strengthened. You expect extra webs and perhaps bigger plates under the nuts if they had been. No worries though if they are showing no early signs of distress.

Cant see clearly from the photos but if that rudder can touch the bottom if you dry out set it dead centre and lash the tiller securely before you do or you risk bending the rudder shaft.

Check the A bolts that the shrouds are attached to. If there are any rusty marks or signs of water leaking in they could be suffering from crevice corrosion where they pass through the deck ...... you dont want one to fail and lead to a dismasting!
