As you may have gathered from my other response we left the boat on the trailer.

It's scary moving a boat by crane at the best of times so I like to minimise the experience. (One poor sod at my local marina spend four years building a ferro-concrete yacht only to have the dipstick of a crane driver drop it on the quay side on "launch day" due to not securing the slings under the boat. Total write-off!!!!!!! Poor beggar is still in shock two years later.)

As far as I know there are no cranes attached to lorries or trailers that have the capacity AND the reach that would be required to lift and place a boat weighing more than a couple of tons.

If you have a mate with a decent tractor it may be just as economical to buy a trailer at a farm sale, use it while you fit out the boat and then re-sell it when the boat is launched. The Foot and Mouth outbreak is causing some weird things to happen in the farming world. Some of the farmers are broke and desperate to sell gear. Others are flush with cash and getting rid of old gear. You may find it easy to pick up a bargain right now as the type of trailer I am thinking of is mainly used to move hay and straw in the Autumn and Winter and lies idle most of the summer.

Best regards )
