Boat sold, time to look for another one, suggestions please

I can live with 20kn, still faster than my Corsair would do! I think Rodman is more SD than full planing so speed down and fuel use up in comparison. I would be happier with twins but only with shafts due to costs of servicing.

I've just sold my Aquador 25C after 6 (happyish) years. The electrics were a nightmare and I probably rewired most of it by the time I sold her. I sail single handed most of the time and found the sliding side doors really useful. Had a bow thruster too. KAD 32 on stern drive was reliable and servicing costs reasonable. Would'nt buy another Aquador tho, did'nt like the Wallas hob or the tint in the wrap around windscreen. Could'nt spot the lobster pots!
Currently looking for a replacement and reckon Benny Antares circa 32 ft are the business. Looked at Nimbus but they are a bit 'twee'. And old fashioned inside. 280 is slow too, my KAD 32 chucked out 170 hp and the 280 is longer but with a 150 hp VP...
Agree that RBS are really helpful for Rodman but they are a bit hardcore. Wessex Marine are equally helpful for Targas but much too much money for me!

The non-flybridge versions might have a bit less windage but TBH I don't see much difference between these and other similar type boats from eg Beneteau or Aquador for example. If you're single handed, and especially if the boat is single engined, then you'll find a bow thruster highly desirable. Could consider a stern thruster too but finding the space to fit it might be a issue.

Fuel costs probably the least of your worries unless you're doing an lot of hours per year at high speeds.

Bavaria S40 Hardtop. I can park this easily* single handed with a bit of planning.

* In non life-threatening wind and tide.
And plenty of fenders .

Outdrive servicing is costly. My boat has Volvo DPH Drives, the main agent services for the drives only are about 1k per drive (not inc Engine services), needed once every two years. Plus the lift of course. Shafts much simpler.

Two smaller engines will be more to service than one bigger one but not 2x.

I too found RBS very helpful. Spent a happy day there looking at Rodmans. Some Rodman boats single shaft drive but top speed probably lower than you want.
Your drive service quote sounds ridiculous.

Thanks.
I had a look at a 25C, I found the side doors and side decks a bit cramped but I am quite large! Same with the bed. I thought the diesel hob would be a good idea, what was wrong with it? Don't recall a tint on the windscreen, seems a crazy idea to me.
Antares is interesting but seems quite a slow thing. I don't mind hardcore, not bothered about fancyness and a lot of wood can mean a lot of maintaining, I have painting!
Someone suggested a Viking pilot 285, interesting but seems almost as rare as my Corsair!

Thanks. I did think about a trawler type but too accommodation focussed and no deck/cockpit.
Strangest description of a Corvette I have ever heard - mine has over 30 sq metres of teak laid deck. For me the deck layout is brilliant with its raised 'Poop' deck just behind an easilly accessible flybridge, and wide walk right around decks - but then I am biased where Corvettes are concerned !

You're right. It's that for two.

Plus VAT.

Probably not the cheapest rodeo in town.
Hmm , interesting looking at the quote, for a start I cannot see the most important part listed to change , the drive shaft bellows plus what’s a sundry charge and environment disposal I don’t charge sundries or waste disposal on any job , looks like I’m loosing a chance to make another £28 per job that’s at least another £168 per week based on 6 services .

They also list 12 litres when the drives take 11, plus they list 12 x 1 litre bottles when you can but 2x 5 litre and 1 litre bottle at 209.10 plus vat .

For me the raised bit you like would be better as a recess! The Corvette is quite a big, heavy boat I would imagine 20kn would be hard on diesel. They do have a certain attractiveness about them though.
