Having had my budget reduced from 100k to closer to 70, I can no longer look at Targa 30s and new BMB29. I am now looking at Used Targa 30/33 or Sunseeker portofino 32 circa mid 90s.

The targe has the benefit of the extra cabin up front which is appealing as I intend to take the boat away to the med next year for 6-8 months and live on it with my other jhalf.

Does anyone have any comments on either of these and also maybe other suggestions as to what may be suitable. Must be 30ft + and have twin diesels.

Cheers

I think for living aboard for a few months you should be looking for something a bit bigger. Weve got a 37ft Sealine in the Med and after living on it most of this summer I wouldn't want anything smaller. Maybe look at some Med manufacturers, Cranchi, Gobbi etc for good value

I have the slight jitters about buying boats overseas, the intention so far has been to buy here and then take it through the canals. Any advice on overseas purchases? Puting theVAT issue to one side is there significant money to be saved?

Sorry NorthenWave, can't resist here - left yourself open on this one.

No wonder the females don't believe us in our measurements.

"Listen dear, it really is nearly **"'s long!"

I wonder if PaulineB can shed some light on this for us!!

<font color=red>... I want to be back on the water!

Yea I'm the same to be honest. I looked to buy in the Med but didn't find it any cheaper and ended up buying Uk and having it trailored out (£3k) I wasn't happy with the thought of taking a planning boat down the canals and to be honest it could get a bit dull I imagine but lots of people do it.
However, if you buy through a respected international broker abroad (eg Ancaster) then you are safe enough. Also you may be able to get a berth in with the deal which are like gold dust in some areas.

Could be based anywhere on southcoast initially, but the intention is to take it to the med next May on an extended honeymoon/ career break for 6-08 months although could be indefinite. (Seeing how things go)

If you intend cruising it to the med I know a very good skipper independent so not expensive
