After an eventful boat searching process, I've just gotten off the phone with the broker who confirmed that balance payment was cleared and the Fairline Phantom 43 'Binks' is now ours! So, I'm afraid it's another boat being taken abroad, but I'd like to think it sort of 'stays in the family' via this forum
She's a very nice and clean 2002 (to 2003 model year) boat with low hours. Survey threw up mostly minor things which I'm having sorted out in due course.
Lot's of things to take care and phone calls to make before shipping her. Steve Jones is picking the boat up today from Berthon's and moving her to Swanwick. Volvopaul has promised to give the engines a thorough service. Osmotech will be installing a holding tank next week (for which the boat is moved to RK Marine). On the following week the boat will be prepped and shrink wrapped for transportation. Oh, and I'm hoping to have the boat polished too.
On the 26th of April a lorry is going to pick her up and transport her to Harwich for a ship bound for Turku, Finland. Hopefully I'll be driving the boat to her new home in Lake Saimaa on the second week of May. I just hope the ice melts by then...
I'm arranging things remotely so here's hoping everything goes to plan…
I'll update this thread as things progress, but unfortunately won't be able to provide pics yet. In fact, if anyone happens to spot her at Swanwick or RK Marine, please take a pic and feel free to post here and/or pm me for my email address.
I'll also be posting more details on the jobs done on the boat.
Here's a pic I took a couple of weeks ago.
Exciting!
