Boat people in land grab

And just imagine if the land had been bought by a property company and was being sold off in small parcels.
Provided the buyers do no more than bash a few stakes in the river bank to secure the boat they are legally entitled to stay there until the second coming.!

you mean just like near maidstone

you mean just like near maidstone

100%.
A beautiful stretch of the English countryside and the Medway about to be destroyed by somebody living hundreds of miles away in France and out to make a few quid through land speculation.
The man has form elsewhere.
Fortunately the local council,in that case, managed to get most of the shacks and fences erected shoreside on the site at Snodland, removed. It still leaves a number of hulks along the shoreline.

There have been some dreadful examples elsewhere and sometimes the local authorites are to slow to react.
Have attempted to contact Maidstone councillors and MP,but as not a local they cannot/will not respond.
The remains of first attempt by somebody who bought a plot.

and just downstream, this boat owner has dug up the ground from the riverbank to the railway embankment to make a garden and removed all the natural vegetation and plant life.

At least they can chuck them off at some future date .
If somebody has legally bought the site and sold it off as leisure plots, nobody can do anything about it,just as long as no permanent structures are erected.
OTS.A third plot has now been sold on the Medway and a hideous scaffolding jetty has been assembled.

Is it on the EA non tidal stretch? If so, look on the bright side - the EA can charge for an accommodation! :D

It is right where we took some rather charming photos of your boat.
The rulz state that no permanent structures inc concreted in mooring posts/fences/sheds etc can be installed on the leisure plotsl
This is exactly what is now going on....are you listening EA !

Think you might be struggling on this one, the Thames has 100's of leisure plots and they are all covered in non permanent structures like sheds, mooring posts, fences etc...
The EA charges for accomodations but I assume that doesn't make them "permanent structures".
