Boat in build pics (Squadron 78)

............Apparantly Fairline have put the Laser tender on the boat now and I will see about rigging a sail (which is currently here, in my office) this afternoon. So if any moboers see a white triangular raggy thing on a stick, it doesn't necessarily mean you're in the wrong hall of Excel :D

See you on le weekend

jfm,

Excellent, I hadn't seen that Fairline had had second thoughts about the Laser being displayed! a smart idea iMO...will look very good I'm sure.

Really looking forward to see it all on Wednesday!

Oh, just remembered something, have pm'ed you..

I was at show today and it was very impressive. For anyone hesitating I'd say it's well worth the trip. There are some nice changes from previous years (see a few more comments I made on Al's thread). I have lots of pics but maybe am not allowed to shots before show opens, but I can post a few more pics of my boat (and I'll post one of MYAG's Y80 on his thread in a minute)

Set up on stand is shown below, with Laser installed (the smaller 4.7 sail will be rigged tomorrow when I get there; there wasn't enough height to rig the full size Laser sail). The radar mast is a dummy and the real one has been taken off to fit the boat in

Hope to see you on board over next few days!

I've followed this thread without making too many comments, as have many. So before the thread comes to a close, i'd just like to thank you for taking the time to post all the pics and keep us all updated with the build process, it's been very interesting. Very well done on your own design features huge kudos to Fairline for a job really well done, great to see somthing positive being done in this country for a change.

Looking at the latest pics John, she looks absolutely stunning now she's finished. In particular, the flybridge helm is a monster. Being a big "boys toys" fan, I WANT ONE. Not sure how well it would fit in my 27 footer though :D

Ding Dong!! Walked past her a couple of days ago but couldn't see too much, pics are great and ouze the quality of this spec. I look forward to a tour over the next few days.

JFM, Looking forward to a viewing in the flesh, although, I also realise it could be a bitter disappointment for me, knowing as I do, that this type of craft is going to really piss me off, knowing as I do, that unless I win the lottery I'll only ever be able to look over your craft with the green eyed monster very much in attendance.:D

she just looks stunning in the photos.

Lovely. For me it's just a simple pleasure of seeing something that's so right.

I could go on but special mention needs to be made of the internal stairs to the f/b where, of course, the design team of jfm + Fairline had a little help from all of us ;) and the sofa at the aft of the cockpit, which just works perfectly with that beautiful table.

I think he should put little blue round signs around the boat

by appointment from the ybw.com mobo forum

That should do it:)

Hot off the press from libs

Fairline announce the launch of a new model - the Squadron 88.

For sale sign seen on "old" demo Sqd78.

For Sale, delivery mileage only. Genuine reason for sale, owner forced to write new S88 build thread for ybw.com. POA but offers in region of 60% of new cost considered.

And if Fairline DID launch an 83, who'd bet this'd be the outcome?

As everyone else has said JFM, stunning boat and thanks for the thread, it's been great to follow it everyday. Dunno what we're all going to do next week. Work maybe??

Thanks for bringing us all along with you for the build JFM , Match looks absolutely fab . Amazing what they can do with some sheets of ply and a bit of carpet ;)
Seriously though , the guys at fairline do a fantastic job and they must be justifiably proud of the finished article .Looking forward to seeing her at LIBS , BTW whats the code word to get past the rope barrier ? , is it " the fuel tanks under the bed " :)

Wow, and wow again. Simply fabulous. The interior is transformed with the finishing touches, and seems soothing and exciting all at the same time.

It's up there with Christina O

Really looking forward to seeing it tomorrow.

As many have said, a brilliant thread and very informative. Suggest you start a 'Match' thread in the future so we can all enjoy what we have 'watched' being built. If your at LIBS on Thursday it would be great to meet you.:)

Hope to see you on board over next few days!
I'm afraid I won't be there, but I really hope to see you and your new pride and joy in Sardinia next summer, where she'll surely look even better than in any boat show!

As an aside, looking at the laser pics, it's really hard to understand why FL initially didn't want it.
Just look at the pic below: it looks like the F/B was purposedly designed to fit with the sailboat. Veeeery nice!
I'm just not sure about the reverse raked windshield, though I see the rationale behind it.

it's the details that counts...

Same gel coat for both members of the jfm fleet on show.

It's been a privilege to watch it all take shape. TKS for sharing the experience.

I was at show today and it was very impressive. For anyone hesitating I'd say it's well worth the trip.

And that's just Match!

Saw her inside today. The pictures don't tell the whole story.

I often don't like big boats. The best thing about Match for me is the lack of bling that many suffer from.

Exquisite detailing exudes quality and care in both thoughtful design and superb build from everywhere. All done in a way that is........ordinary? That can't be the right word, for something that really is very special, but mere mortals could feel at home on this boat. Quite a trick to pull off.

I absolutely loved it.

Haven't been on the fly and seen the famous dash yet, I'm saving that. The crew cabin is as spacious as and more luxurious than a 30 footer.

As for stair-gate. The stairs have to be seen to be seen to be appreciated. The stairs are a thing of beauty. I know that's an odd thing to say about stairs but it's true! If you think I'm over egging it you just have to see them. More squaddies will be built with these stairs for sure. And like everything on the boat, they are SO good because of the details.

Seeing JFM bugger up the hi fi and stepping aside so a punter could be blamed was good too:)

JFM if my wife turns up for a look please turn her away.
