Boat in build pics (Squadron 78)

Had the pleasure of a jfm guided tour of Match today and she really is lovely. Far nicer than the pics suggest.

Worthy of particular note is the saloon/galley decor, trick master bath/shower arrangement, cavernous crew quarters and stunning engine room (not seen anything British with an engine room that well laid out).

Mrs Magnum was quite taken with the Bonifacio artwork but I failed to distract jfm for long enough to allow her to stash it in her handbag :D

Fab boat jfm. You've done well :)

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. It was really nice to meet lots of new faces off here today, as well as re-meet lots of forumites I've met many times before. I hope to welcome a few more forumites on board over the weekend (and titanic, i wont be there much during the week but I am planning to be there thursday so i hope to see you then). The boat is looking pretty nice and I'm so pleased with what Fairline have made, as indeed they are. It's been a lot of fun going through the build process but Coliholic I'm planning to do a few years cruising it before ordering another boat :-)

The boat show seems pretty good this year, quite different layout, so for anyone hesitating about going I'd say it's worth the trip

Thanks Magnum, nice to catch up with you guys again. For reference, the guy who makes the chart picture (by hand, with his wife, in their cottage overlooking Kinsale harbour) is Bobby Nash. Really nice guy, and he'll be on Match tomorrow. Website www.latitudekinsale.com shows a lot of his work. They are quite nice pictures for home/office/study as well as boat, and all individually made to order with any cruisng ground in the world that you want. I'm plugging Bobby because hed' like more orders and he's a great guy

Just had a look at the last batch of photos posted by jfm. I am strangely excited about seeing it in the flesh....for what could be described as a bloody big flash boat by many, she looks very understated...somehow I think when I see the sheer size I might think its a very big flash boat, but still that interior just looks so very good!

JFM, are you there Sunday, would be nice to meet you if you are. Sam got his official offer in writing this week & now wants a new faster car, new boat or just about anything shiny. Looked thoughtful when told its down to him to get out & earn it now.

Also had chance to look around Match yesterday and meet JFM. the pictures here simply dont do it justice! the internal stairways are a work of art and the saloon, galley area is so contemporary its stunning. love the carpet / wood floor mix!

bath / shower room looks great as does just about everything! the only fault i could find was a rattle from the prop bottle of Moet in the bucket in the galley!

Congratulations to you john and to Fairline! was very pleasantly surprised with they welcome they gave. very different to previous years!!!

I'm seriously interested. A really original concept that would be a talking point on any vessel. Only problem is, you already chose the best area!

While I'm posting pics, here's one of the shows' most original tender :)

My favourite area as well .... but ever since JFM commissioned it I thought that Les Iles des Lerins with Super Cannes or Villefranche would also make great reliefs .... although I'm sure others can think of great UK places.

PS -- that is a stunning picture angle of the Laser

Just got home from another long day at LIBS, busier than I have seen it on the first Saturday for a few years, are things picking up for the industry?

Today was very enjoyable as I was given a tour of Match from JFM in person, have to say I was very impressed, the finishing is top notch, love the light flooded stairwell and I am now a convert to internal fly staircases, this is a very, very clever customization that "re-uses" otherwise dead space. A brilliant addition.

As I had expected though, I did come across a not so desireable addition to this very high spec, seems that someone was caught short in the Owners head.

JFM, can I recommend the following option for your next project, not too expensive and does the trick!

I wish you many many happy and exciting days aboard!

Thanks MYAG for reporting that terrible incident in my new bathroom. I just knew that was gonna happen sooner or later. Yup, Fairline have goofed up by not supplying those special "do not use" stickers that sunseeker use. I'll ask them for a £100k refund for hurt feelings. Thanks again for reporting this.

Hey it was great meet you, and thanks for the tour of your wonderful Y80, and for the nice chat on the ins and outs of ordering/speccing a boat this size. Catch up later I hope, and best wishes to you too for loads of great trips in AG

ROTFLMAO! :D :D :D :D :D :D

it as I guess you were busy with forum folk and everyone that Fairline could throw at you....

Will have a peak in the week but I reckon she is the most viewed there so far.

love the Laser and as for that pic it looks a little too real....

Just to say thanks J for the quick tour, absolutely wonderful yacht, well thought out and perfectly executed, a credit to you.

Sorry I was gone when you got back..... customers don't you know ! always interfering with proper business :-)

but I dont know how you can remain so calm with all those kids putting their fingers all over the place!

Thanks again.

Visited today and had a great tour.

All credit to you for both your design work and agreeing to let people see it. Also all credit to the Fairline people as well. We approached the stand and said we wanted to see the "forum" boat. They knew instantly what we meant and gave us VIP passes to the rear of the stand where the man on "duty" gave us the full tour.

Despite there being no chance of me ever being able to afford such a boat he took us around and ran through all the features of the boat and the customisations you designed. He was clearly as proud of the boat as you are.

A great visit and I am sure you will enjoy her.

Martin

Many thanks for the tour, jfm, we enjoyed looking around and seeing the build photos turned into real life. The highlight of a good day at the show.

I can only echo what others have already said, stunning tub, and the boat wasn't too bad either:D. An absolute credit to all your hard work.

I hope this thread continue for a long while yet, including the delivery of her to her new home.

Great to finally meet you, and many thanks for the tour.

Cheers
Al.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and glad you got to tour the boat. No worries about (literally) thousands of people who have been on the boat over the last 3 days - it's bearing up well. 10-20 years ago I went on boats at boat shows and looked at them in awe, courtesy of their owners, so I wouldn't not let folks see my boat now that I'm lucky enough to have it

Al, it was great to meet you too. Thank you for the gift, it really was very kind. I was gonna PM you but I might as well thank you on the forum. (Al kindly presented me with a bottle of very fine Scotch single malt). It will be placed in the boat's drinks cabinet (um, after the show!) and will be savoured on this summer's cruises, with toasts to you and your little man C :-)
