Boat hunting this week! I have a cooker question.

I'm working on 'option 1' this week! ie boat in UK.

Option 2 and 3 boat in Spain or flat in Spain!!

Back to the cooker question. I have plans to view a boat this week that has a diesel fired ceramic hob cooker fitted. I'm a bit concerned that it might smell or not very efficient. Could someone give me a little information about them, are they any good or is it something to avoid!

I'm heading to the South coast to do several viewings, any suggestions of great value offers appreciated!!
32' to 38' spending £60 to £80k . Accommodation for 2 but occasionally 3. I'm interested in sports cruiser but with big engine options or I am also happy to cruise at 20k in a semi plane boat! (I'm easy to please really)!

Dunno if you've seen Whitelighters thread but he's put a link to a SC29 for 60k. Could be worth a look...it's in Spain.

Yes, I saw Whitelighters thread, I thought 1400 hrs is a bit much. We are going to view a SC29 this week, may be a little small for us but I like the way the roof folds back instantly.

Also on the hit list is the larger S38.

The diesel hobs by Wallas are incredible bits of kit. Clean, efficient and best of all no explosive gas on board.
I have swapped out gas cookers for the Diesel hobs in the past. They are very expensive which is why they are rare but excellent at what they do. You can also ge a stove top addition that lets them act like a heater.

The only draw back is unlike gas the take a little while to get to temperature but they use ceramic plates so dont require much fuel to maintain the heat.

Re: S38 - make sure its had the strengthening work done by Destys. I beleive the only way to check this is to get the HIN, and phone Destys.

Also check the electrics. I think there is a Mark I version (seaplex?) and a Mark II. I looked at one, and was told it was very difficult to get parts for the Mark I version. This was by the supplier so bought up all the Seaplex stock, so was "from the horses mouth" so to speak.

Hi Petem.

I used to have a targa 34 with Kad300s. My biggest mistake was to sell it and go back to sailing.:ambivalence:

Since then I took early retirement and don't have the funds to get back what I used to have. I've seen T34s with KAD44s in my price range but I feel its a bit of a come down from the boat I had and therefore looking for something different.

The targa 34 are fantastic boats cruise at 30 knots and could reach 40knots! I do miss that! Quite thrilling and thats why if I go for sports cruiser, it must have the big engine option.
