Hello all,
I think this is the right place to ask this question however please forgive me if it's not.
I'm hopefully soon to be a first time boat owner.
The boat I'm looking at buying is a Jeanneau Cap Camarat 7.5 CC Series 2. (Just under 8m length, petrol outboard engine)
It's currently based in France but registered under a Belgian flag.
I intend to move the boat to Ibiza (Spain) and use it to pootle around the island and over to Formentera etc. Just private use, not chartering it out either bareboat or skippered.
My qualifications are: RYA Sailing Day Skipper (non-tidal) and RYA Power Boat Level 2. I have ordered and am currently awaiting my ICCs for both of those licences.
Can anyone see any potential issues with the Spanish Guardia Civil / Authorities or whoever, based upon the flag of the boat, the Spanish waters it will be in and my qualifications? I've googled the hell out of it, and also spoken with some skippers I know here in Ibiza however I've found it difficult to get a definitive answer.
What I'd like to know is: am I good to go under the circumstances above, or will I need to register the boat under the MCA SSR as I'm a UK citizen and resident. Are there any other considerations I need to be aware of?
I may also be missing something (or things) fundamental... and I'm not sure I'm even asking the right questions!
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks in advance!
