I am like a kid a couple of days before Christmas! The boat goes back in the water on Tue!

This will be the first time she has been in since we bought her. A few more bits and peices to be taken care of, rethread the rigging, dodgers, sprayhood then we are done.

First trip will be down to Cherbourg on the 29th April, early start to the bank holiday, then around to St Vast on the Sat. Anyone else going south?

I just cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Er both really - maybe I should have said best wishes for the launch and your new boat.. good luck for going cross channel straight after launch.

She will probably be OK - you may feel more comfy having done a few miles to get to know her quirks before you commit to "offshore".
Nice looking boat in very good condition when I saw her.

Are you going to the drinks thing tonight at the marina office?

If not are you around over the weekend, I still want to see inside your HR.

Won't be in the marina bar, prob in the sussex with weekend Julie to get my pink cardi back.
Should be on Asterie in the morning certainly by 10:30

I did a channel crossing one year when the boat had been put straight back into the water. Wasn't a pleasant experience as one thing after another started playing up, nearly lost the mast. But we were keen to go in them days...

Maybe I'll tell the crew we are going to France, then go to Weymouth, do you think they will notice the difference?

My day skipper instuctor told me never tell the crew where your headed cos if you tell them they're going to Amsterdam and they finish up at Grimsby fish dock the mutinous dogs can get quite nasty.

I've decided, we will go west, south of the Isle of Wight, then into Weymouth. With a bit of luck there will be enough French fishing boats in there I will be able to get away with telling them they are in France. That will will work won't it?

Good thinking. Our rig was taken out for a few weeks last year and I was astonished at the number of mistakes in the way the running rigging had been set up. For instance had we not checked before going out, and found ourselves needing to put a reef in, we would have been well and truly stuffed. Even though you are only doing a short shakedown trip I would check everything before leaving.

I would not consider any passage in a newly launched boat until a good shake down sail close to home had been completed (and the subsequent repairs done)

Even with a new boat.
