Hi ,
I am interested in buying a boat that has no paperwork! She is thought to have been built around 1984/5, significant in terms of VAT! Any ideas. She is over seas...so will need to get past UK customs!

This is stating the obvious, but if you know the manufacturer (I'm presuming you do?), why not ask if the seller there's a hull ID & contact the manufacturer for build date?

If the boat is outside the EU or has been outside for more than 4 years irrespective of age or whether vat has been pain in the past , vat will be due to be paid again. there are very limited situations where this requirement can be waived.
